Strategic Airlines (airline code VC) is a charter and scheduled airline based in Brisbane, Australia, with a European base in Luxembourg.

Strategic is currently in the process of rebranding its Brisbane based operation to Air Australia with a new livery to be rolled out across the fleet, while the European based fleet will remain branded under Strategic, as reported by flightglobal.com here.

UPDATE 17/02/2012: Air Australia, formely Strategic Airlines, entered administration and has grounded its fleet for the foreseeable future. This does NOT affect the European side of the business.

Ownership

Strategic Airlines was founded as a freight and troop carrier in 1991 by its executive director Shaun Aisen.

Route Network

Strategic operates a small number of scheduled routes in Australasia. Following the collapse of several charter airlines in the UK and Europe, Strategic was granted a European Union operating licence in late 2010 with which it hopes to fill a gap in the market via the opening of a base in Luxembourg.

Strategic Airlines also operates leisure routes from Australia to Bali and Phuket in Thailand.
