Background

Thomas Cook Airlines (airline code TCX) is the UK's second-biggest charter airline. It is based at Manchester airport. It began life in 1999 as JMC Airlines following the merger of the charter carrier Flying Colours and Caledonian Airways. It was rebranded to its current name in 2003.

Ownership

The airline derives its existing size and ownership to the merger of Germany's Thomas Cook AG and MyTravel, together with their respective airlines, in June 2007. This led to the formation of Thomas Cook PLC, a company quoted on the London Stock Exchange.

Route Network

Thomas Cook Airlines flies to all the major short-haul leisure destinations. It serves a handful of long-haul leisure destinations, particularly Orlando and the Dominican Republic. It also runs a major flight programme for Canadian Affair.
