Monarch Airlines is based at London Luton airport and operates both scheduled services, under the Monarch Scheduled brand, and charter flights, under the main name. Scheduled services are coded ZB and charter flights MON.

Monarch Scheduled's services account for 80% of the airline's operation and depart from London Luton, London Gatwick, Manchester and Birmingham airports, however, it does a great deal of charter work from around the UK and Europe.

Ownership

Monarch was founded in 1967 and is the UK's oldest charter carrier still under its original brand. It is owned by Switzerland's Mantegazza family, who also control Monarch's sister brand, the tour operator Cosmos.

Route Network

Monarch has a strong network of scheduled services to leisure destinations, particularly those popular with second home owners or the ex-pat community. It flies to these from Luton, Gatwick, Manchester and Birmingham but also offers charter flights from a variety of other airports.

It has a small fleet of wide-bodied jets serving medium and long-haul charter destinations including The Gambia and Florida. However, the bulk of services are on its scheduled network including: Alicante, Almeria, Antalya, Barcelona, Bodrum, Corfu, Dalaman, Dubrovnik, Faro, Fuerteventura, Gibraltar, Gran Canaria, Heraklion, Ibiza, Lanzarote, Larnaca, Malaga, Menorca, Milan, Palma, Paphos, Rome, Sharm el Sheikh, Tenerife, Venice and Verona.
