Korean Air launched its first Airbus A380 in June 2011 on regional routes between Seoul Incheon International Airport, Tokyo Narita and Hong Kong International, with plans to operate the superjumbo on routes to Bangkok, Paris, New York and Los Angeles later in 2011.
The carrier has ordered a total of 10 A380s, five of which were due to be delivered by the end of 2011.
Korean Air’s configuration of the A380 will mean it will have only 407 seats: 12 first class and 301 economy class seats on the lower deck, and 94 Prestige Class seats on the upper deck. The carrier will be the first airline to devote the entire upper deck of the A380 to business class. There is also a duty free 'showcase' at the back of the lower deck.
