American Airlines has begun a reconfiguration of its Boeing 777-200ERs which will see it ditch the first class cabin.
The current version, in the layout below, seats 247.
First Class: Rows 1-4, configured 1-2-1, (A - D,G - J)
Business Class: Rows 8-13, configured 2-3-2, (A,B - D,E,G - H,J)
Main Cabin: Rows 20-45, configured 2-5-2 (A,B - C,D,E,F,G - H,J)
Revamped aircraft will start to appear later in 2012 and will be fitted with up to 45 fully flat business class seats. These will be the same as the new product being introduced on the larger and newer 777-300ERs.
Refitted aircraft will have a new premium economy offering known as Main Cabin Extra. It will be up to 45 seats offering an extra four to six inches legroom.
