American Airlines' economy cabin offers a 32-inch seat pitch in long-haul.
On Boeing 777-200ERs, including those used on Heathrow and Frankfurt routes, there are seat-back video screens offering 12 channels. Free headsets and a full meal service are provided. Other aircraft types have old-fashioned overhead screens in economy.
A full meal service is offered, but there is a charge for alcoholic drinks.
American Airlines debuts a new economy cabin in 2012 on its Boeing 777-300ER aircraft, with slide forward seats and seatback TVs. See the Boeing 777-300ER pages for details.
The product will gradually appear on Boeing 777-200ERs throughout 2013.

This was my return journey on this route, having flown out to NY five days previously (also in economy with AA). Journey to JFK was fairly easy from midtown Manhattan - subway to Jamaica station, then the shuttle train to Terminal 8. First time flying long-haul with AA, and for the most part i was pleasantly surprised. Cabin crew were polite, friendly and efficient throughout the flight, and food was better than had expected in economy - we were served a chicken fillet in sauce dish as the main meal (not bad), and a pizza later on during the flight.
