ANA is the launch customer for the Boeing 787 Dreamliner, with the first delivery of a total 55 aircraft taking place in October 2011.

Scheduled flights on the 787 will begin on November 1 from Tokyo's Haneda airport to Okayama and Hiroshima. International flights will start in December on the Tokyo-Beijing route.

The aircraft will first be seen in Europe from January 2012, when it will fly from Tokyo to Frankfurt. An initial three flights a week will become daily in February.

ANA will operate the aircraft in two different short and long-haul layouts, both featuring two classes. ANA will fit its first 787s for regional and domestic operations, with long-haul aircraft having fewer seats.

The first configuration to be revealed features 12 Sicma Majesty business class recliner seats and economy in a 2-4-2 layout with a 34-inch pitch.

For international long-haul operations ANA will offer 46 Sicma Skylounge fully flat Business class seats in a staggered 1-2-1 and 1-1-1 layout, and 112 economy class seats.

The aircraft will also be fitted with an economy class bar underneath the signature 787 LED-lit archway (located in between rows 5 and 6 on the seat plan), plus female-only lavatories in all cabins. All toilets will have a bidet facility.

All passengers will have Panasonic in-flight entertainment on demand.

Future innovations may include a premium economy cabin on this aircraft.
